The England manager has chosen to retain the same Three Lions selection that triumphed against their previous opponents and delivered an impressive display in Serbia during the previous international break, leaving no room for Jude Bellingham and the Manchester City attacker in his selection for the forthcoming exhibition match against the Welsh side and the qualifying match in Latvia.

Despite Foden making a strong case for a recall after regaining his top condition at Manchester City, and Bellingham having returned for his Spanish club following a surgical procedure, the national team manager has opted not to including two of the country's biggest attacking talents. The young midfielder has started just a single time for his team since his comeback.

The England boss has found space for Bukayo Saka, who is fully recovered and has been reinstated in place of his injured club colleague the sidelined player. Jack Grealish has not received a return to the squad.

The manager has opted against selecting a direct replacement for the Magpies star but has selected John Stones, who had to pull out last month. He has discussed the Manchester City defender's significance for the national team and has suggested deploying him in the middle of the park.

No spot has been found for Adam Wharton, who was called up in the previous squad but withdrew due to injury and was replaced by the Milan player.

Tuchel said: “It was only three weeks since the previous gathering and the last win, the last performance, so the question was why not bring the identical squad in because they set the standard. Now it is about creating habits out of it. We have unfortunately a couple of fitness issues at the moment with Tino and Noni and we welcome of course Bukayo Saka in to take the place of Madueke. Jarell Quansah was a late call-up previously; he will remain with the squad.”
