Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1.15pm) Preview
The prestigious juvenile colts race pits elite French prospects versus a strong contender trained by Ballydoyle. Perfect Graffard’s Rayif and Nighttime face the Irish-trained Puerto Rico for O’Brien. Graffard’s runner won a Group Three event during his previous outing, whereas Christopher Head’s charge, holding a 3-from-4, is also successful at Group Three level, after won the La Rochette at this same venue in early September. The O’Brien contender proved busier than his rivals and recorded his first win just in his most recent outing, in the Doncaster’s Group Two. Although not the favourite for an O’Brien-trained runner , but a favourites underperformed, he remains a solid 9-2 chance among oddsmakers. The Solario Stakes victor, who won a Group Three in a four-way result, is also merits a spot in the field, like from Charlie Appleby Appleby’s Time To Turn, successful at Listed level on the Ascot track earlier this season.

Analysis of the 12.40pm Race
Following a streak from 2018 where the victor failed to record another victory, France’s most prestigious event for two-year-old fillies has improved some strength lately featuring the 2022 winner and the 2023 victor both recording Group One wins the following year and Zarigana, which just missed by a longshot stablemate 12 months after trading at very short odds, won the French 1,000 Guineas during the spring. Green Spirit, with a clean slate after four outings featuring the D’Aumale on this course in her latest race, fronts the French contenders in this race and ranks first in the Timeform ratings. However Aidan O’Brien’s Diamond Necklace is undefeated – after two starts – and is expected to give her strong competition. The filly won a black-type race on Ireland’s Champions Weekend last month and a victory by her sire St Mark’s Basilica could mark a significant milestone for the stallion. Between them, the leading pair in the market take out approximately 70% of the pool, but we have a few more contenders which deserve attention. The unbeaten Ozone remains unbeaten in two, though at smaller venues, last time out taking a Listed race on the Lyon track. Meanwhile, the Burke-trained The May Hill Stakes winner Aylin took a Group Two at Doncaster last time and the yard was more in form.
