Bad Bunny Responds to Kristi Noem's ICE Warnings Before the Big Game Performance
During his first speech as host of the first episode of Saturday Night Live, Bad Bunny responded to recent statements made by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem regarding his scheduled Super Bowl halftime performance.
This young Puerto Rican singer quipped that "everyone" was pleased about his planned show, "even Fox News."
“It’s good to be back. This is my second time hosting and my fourth time being here,” he said. “I’ll be performing at the Super Bowl halftime. I’m thrilled, and I believe everyone else is too.”
A short video clip followed showing Fox News contributors seeming to endorse the artist for the presidency.
An Important Statement for the Latino Community
During his opening remarks, the musician switched to Spanish to speak to "Latinos everywhere across the globe and here in the U.S.."
He stated that being chosen for the halftime show was more than a personal achievement but an accomplishment for the entire community, showing that the Latino contribution in the U.S. cannot be removed.
Then, in English, he added, "If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn."
Political Criticism and Official Warnings
The announcement of Bad Bunny’s halftime show caused outrage among some conservatives, particularly from Kristi Noem.
On a recent podcast, Noem stated that just U.S. citizens should attend the upcoming game and threatened that ICE agents "will be all over" the stadium.
Noem further suggested the league would "regret its decision" for choosing Bad Bunny.
U.S. Exclusion and Recent Success
Previously, the singer revealed that concerns of ICE raids at his live events resulted in him excluding the United States from his forthcoming world tour.
He just wrapped a lengthy performance run in his home territory, which reportedly attracted around 600,000 attendees.
"The shows were incredible, and the fans were amazing," he noted during his SNL monologue.
Comedy Segments and Topical Humor
During additional segments of the season opener, cast member Colin Jost impersonated commentator the media figure.
That segment featured a rant about the armed forces, sarcastically echoing Hegseth’s recent comments about inclusion and appearance within the military.
Also, Trump impersonator a cast member made a short cameo as a "unofficial watchdog" of the show, claiming he was there to ensure "SNL doesn’t cross the line with jokes about me."
